Parkland Library offering technology petting zoo

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, is offering drop-in storytime for families with children of all different ages 10:30-11 a.m. Oct. 5. No registration is required.

Movie night will take place 6:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 9 in the South Whitehall Township Building, 4444 Walbert Ave.

A technology petting zoo for hands-on interaction with gadgets such as iPad, iPod, Kindle, Nook is being offered in the library 1:30-6 p.m. Oct. 10.

Staff will be available to answer questions and share tips.

There also is a 6 p.m. eReader presentation by Lehigh University Librarian Heather Simoneau.

Bingo for books for the whole family will be played 1-3 p.m. Oct. 13 at the library. Play bingo and earn books as prizes. Registration is needed.

Book Quest for adults will meet 7-8:30 p.m. Oct. 17 to discuss "In the Garden of Beasts" by Erik Larson.

New members are always welcome.

Friends of Parkland Community Library are holding a fun pasta fall fundraiser until Nov. 9 to benefit the library.

The Mission Response Team at Ziegels Union Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, is sponsoring a pancake breakfast 9:30-11 a.m. Oct. 14.

The menu includes plain, chocolate chip, banana hazelnut, buckwheat pumpkin pancakes (all made from scratch), sausage links and scrambled eggs, and orange butter.

A free-will offering will be taken to benefit the mission team.

Jordan United Church of Christ, 1837 Church Road, South Whitehall, is having its annual Autumn Glory bazaar 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 13.

There will be two floors of attic treasures, a raffle, Chinese auction, little shopper's shop, baked goods, books, crafts, vendors and lunch.


Busy Bees at St. John's United Church of Christ, 1027 Church St., Fogelsville, are having their second hoagie sale.

Order deadline is Oct. 7 with pick up Oct. 17.

Members of Robert M. Fegely VFW Post 8282, 1522 Butz Road, Breinigsville, will be cooking breakfast from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Oct. 7.

Menu includes eggs, pancakes, French toast, choice of two meats, coffee, tea and hot chocolate.

This event is open to the public.


Upper Macungie Parks and Recreation will be holding a 5K run and 1 mile walk from 9 a.m.-noon Oct. 7 at Lone Lane Park.

All proceeds from the event will benefit park and recreation efforts in the township.
