With budget season behind them, Lehigh County commissioners convened Nov. 20, to address a handful of reappointments and bills.

The board unanimously voted to reappoint Commissioner Percy Dougherty to the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission and Susan Schmidt, of Emmaus, and Sally Schoffstall, of New Tripoli, to the Lehigh County Aging and Adult Services Advisory Council.

Commissioners also unanimously approved a lease of county-owned property along Riverside Drive, Salisbury Township, to White Deer Run Inc. for use as a rehabilitation center.

"We currently do not have a detox center in Lehigh County," Commissioner Lisa Scheller said, "We'll be able to have this center so that people can get treatment."

First reading was given to a bill that would grant $1,061,000, divided between the cities of Allentown and Bethlehem, the borough of Emmaus, and the townships of Lower Macungie, Salisbury and Upper Saucon, for park improvement and recreation reinvestment.

Director of Community and Economic Development Cindy Feinberg said the money for this grant comes from the sale of county land near Dorney Park, South Whitehall.

The bill is expected to be voted on at the next commissioners meeting, Dec. 12.
