According to a statement issued Dec. 5 by South Whitehall Township police, they were dispatched at 10:28 a.m. the day before to the 2000 block of Focht Avenue for reports of shots being fired in the street.

South Whitehall police say they received a description of a black male with long braids chasing and shooting at another male.

According to the affidavit of probable cause obtained from District Judge Jake Hammond's office, Jamel Hussein Lewis, of 587 Carnation Court, Wellington, Fla., was charged with shooting at Shane Gibbs, the estranged husband of Kisha Gibbs.

Kisha Gibbs went into the house and Lewis came out with a dark handgun, allegedly firing in the direction of the roadway in front of Tracy Frey's house.

Lewis, who turned his attention to Shane Gibbs as he ran west on Focht Avenue, allegedly fired two shots at him as he ran toward Whitehall Avenue.

Cramer states Lewis chased Shane Gibbs to Whitehall Avenue, where he headed northeast through the yards, firing three additional shots .

Lewis finally returned to the house at 2021 Focht Ave., where he was taken into custody by police.

According to Lehigh County Court records, Lewis was charged with one count of aggravated assault, two counts of recklessly endangering another person and attempted criminal homicide.

He was arraigned in night court Dec. 4 before District Judge Michael Joseph Pochron.

Lewis is being held in Lehigh County Prison in lieu $1 million bail, awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for Dec. 11 before District Judge Jake Hammond, South Whitehall Township.
