Man charged

with drunkenness

Joseph Abraham Polayes, 19, of Bethlehem, was charged with public drunkenness after he was allegedly found lying in a snow bank at 6:49 a.m. Jan. 1 at the Lehigh Valley Interchange, South Whitehall Township, State Police Troop M Fogelsville say.

Police say Polayes ran across Route 22 from the Kuhnsville exit in traffic before being found.

He was transported by Cetronia Ambulance Corps to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for an examination, police say.

Driver arrested

for DUI

State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Zachary Earl Shoemaker, 22, of Allentown, was stopped 2:57 a.m. Dec. 29, 2012, for alleged traffic violations at Ruppsville and Chapmans roads, Upper Macungie Township.

Shoemaker was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, police say.

Charges will be filed before District Judge Michael Faulkner, Upper Macungie Township.

New Jersey driver

arrested for DUI

Kelly Marie Janis, 29, of Hoboken, N.J., was stopped 1:36 a.m. Dec. 28, 2012, for alleged traffic violations at 7350 Tilghman St., Upper Macungie Township, State Police Troop M Fogelsville say.

Janis was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance.

Charges will be filed before District Judge Michael Faulkner, Upper Macungie Township.

Two men charged

with assault

State Police Troop M Bethlehem say Christopher Michael Melcher, 39, of Coplay, and Christopher Luciano Melcher, 20, of Orefield, allegedly assualted a 33-year-old woman, a 16-year-old male and 13-year-old male, all of Coplay, at 11:14 p.m. Dec. 24, 2012, in the 2600 block of Levans Road, North Whitehall Township.

The incident resulted in minor injuries.

Charges were filed before District Judge Jake Hammond, South Whitehall Township.

Car hits Route 22 concrete divider

Tyrone A. Frazier, 22, of Bethlehem, was driving a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis westbound in the right lane of travel at approximately 50 mph on Route 22, just east of Interstate 476, South Whitehall, at 5:46 p.m. Dec. 26, 2012, when he attempted to move into the left lane.

Frazier apparently lost control of his vehicle due to road conditions and struck the center concrete divider with the rear passenger side of the car, police say.

Frazier brought the car to a controlled final rest on the right shoulder of Route 22 West facing west.

Frazier, who police say was wearing his seat belt, was uninjured.

He was cited for driving to fast for conditions.

The car sustained disabling rear and body damage and was towed from the scene.

State police stop, search vehicle

Michael Anthony Ekvall, 21, of Fleetwood, was stopped at 9:02 a.m. Dec. 31, 2012, for an expired inspection on his vehicle at the intersection of Main and Church streets, Upper Macungie Township, State Police Troop M Fogelsville say.

Police allege a strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from inside the vehicle and a search warrant was obtained.

A search of the vehicle, allegedly revealed a small amount of marijuana and a glass smoking pipe.

Charges were filed before District Judge Michael Faulkner, Upper Macungie Township.
