Charles S. Edwards, 84, of Fogelsville, died May 28, 2013, at home.

He and his wife Lucy (Sherburne) Edwards were married 55 years last June.

Born in Hazleton, he was a son of the late Robert and Kathryn (Schaar) Edwards.

He graduated from Penn State University and Harvard Divinity School.

He served as chaplain for three years in the U.S. Air Force.

He then received a Ph.D. from Princeton University and taught political science at Baylor University, Waco, Texas, for 18 years.

His services will be private.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jonathan C., of St. Louis, Mo.; daughters Kathryn S. Edwards of Concord, Mass., and Jennifer E. McGlynn of Walnutport; brother Robert of Pittsburgh; sisters June Wargo of North Wales, Beverly Zeisloft of West Deptford, N.J.; grandchildren Emily, Megan and Ian McGlynn, and Cody, Garrett, and Lucy O'Sullivan; nieces and nephews.
