South Whitehall Township home damaged by smoke and fire

Thursday, October 16, 2014 by LOU WHEELAND Special to The Press in Local News

All three South Whitehall fire departments along with Cetronia Ambulance Corps, Western Salisbury, Lower Macungie and Alburtis fire departments responded to a house fire 3:53 p.m. Oct. 12, at 406 Beverly Drive, South Whitehall Township.

Smoke and flames could be seen in an attached sunroom and there was the possibility the fire would spread into the home.

Homeowner Roger Hamm, wife, Lori, and their daughter were home at the time and were trying to control the fire with a garden hose.

With the arrival of Cetronia firefighters, followed quickly by Woodlawn and Greenawalds firefighters, a quick stop was made to the fire.

Smoke, however had spread through the home making it uninhabitable.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by South Whitehall Fire Inspector John Frantz.
