Boys harriers improve to 9-0
The Parkland boys cross country team improved to 9-0 last week with a dominating performance at the Bethlehem Municipal Course. The Trojans swept Freedom (15-49), Liberty (15-50) and Bethlehem Catholic (15-50) as five Trojans were the first runners across the line in five-team meet.
Hailemichael Geiger took first place, followed by teammate Sam Morgan in second, followed by Nick Bower (third), Steven Kaleycik (fourth) and Riley Williamson (fifth).
Parkland’s girls team went 2-1 at the meet and is now 6-3 this season. The Trojan girls team beat Bethlehem Catholic (15-50) and Freedom (22-33) but were edged by Liberty (26-29).
The Trojans’ Sydney DelVecchio took second place overall, followed by teammate Erin Wood (fourth), Madison Zaun (sixth), Morgan Glenn (ninth) and Natalie Britton (14th).
The Parkland boys cross country finished in 14th place at last weekend’s Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University.
Led by a Morgan’s 59th-place finish, the Trojans placed their top five runners in the top 100 out of 360 competitors in the Brown race, which was the more competitive of the two high school varsity races held at the Paul Short.
Behind Morgan were teammates Williamson (76th), Kaleycik (80th), Bower (82nd), Geiger (92nd), Jacob Ringer (133rd) and Jonathan Snyder (181st).
Parkland’s girls team took 28th place out of 42 teams in the girls Brown race. DelVecchio led the way with a 97th-place finish out of 369 runners. She was followed by teammates Zaun (131st), Wood (147th), Glenn (165th), Kiley Krasley (216th), Claire Bassler (227th) and Britton (230th).
