Bickel named township manager
Renee Bickel, who started working at South Whitehall as manager of human resources six years ago, has become the new township manager.
She replaces Howard Kutzler who resigned in February.
Bickel was named assistant township manager in October 2015 and has served as interim manager since Kutzler’s departure.
Bickel oversees all departments in the township, including 106 full-time staff and 25 seasonal employees.
Before her arrival at South Whitehall, Bickel held human resources administrative positions in manufacturing, long-term care and consulting.
She graduated from North Penn High School in Montgomery County where she presently resides.
She received her Bachelor’s degree from Gwynedd-Mercy College and earned senior professional human resources certifications.
Bickel said she is looking forward to many opportunities at South Whitehall.
“There’s a lot of growth and development,” Bickel said. “As a leader, I’m always taking a look at the organizational structure.
“I want to make sure we have the structure to meet the needs of our community.”
Commissioners recently approved Bickel’s appointment as township manager and her two-year contract.
Her job description includes management of day-to-day township operations and responsibility for coordination, administration and enforcement of all South Whitehall ordinances and resolutions.
She is directed to serve as a central point of contact among the board of commissioners, staff and the community.
Bickel is also encouraged to foster a positive, progressive, and accessible environment for officials, staff and the public.
Her base salary is $112,000.
