Thursday, January 11, 2018 by The Press in News Briefs

Upper Macungie police will be hosting two free identity theft and fraud awareness and prevention seminars 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Jan. 22 in the public meeting room of the township’s municipal building, 8830 Schantz Road, Breinigsville.

Ronald Kistler, a public accountant, will present a seminar explaining the how and why of current identity theft regarding income tax purposes.

He will also show where the information comes from, why it is so valuable, what’s being done by Internal Revenue Service to catch this fraud and what residents should be aware of so it does not happen to them.

A representative from Embassy Bank will address bank and credit card fraud.

The first seminar will focus primarily on discussing senior citizens’ concerns with fraud protection.

Each session is anticipated to last approximately one to one-and-a-half hours.
