Martin P. “Marty” Bright, 58, of Coplay, and a guest at Westminster Village, Allentown, died peacefully Jan. 3, 2018, in St. Luke’s Hospice House, Lower Saucon Township, surrounded by his loving and dedicated family.

He and his wife Kathleen A. (Deutsch) were married 32 years.

Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of Joyce Bishop Bright of Bethlehem and the late Paul N. Bright who died in 2002.

He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Fullerton.

He honorably served his country in both the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.

A 1977 graduate of Liberty High School, he attended Cedar Crest College.

He was a split place picker in the prescription department of the former Walgreens Distribution Center before becoming disabled.

Earlier in life, he worked at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township for 19 years, and was selected nursing tech of the year in the 1990s.

He was a huge Philadelphia Eagles and Oklahoma Sooners fan.

He enjoyed being an active member of the American Club of Coplay, and was known as “The Machine” while making hoagies.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter Shelby Bright with Joseph Bedics of Coplay; sister Lynn Sipos and husband, Frank, of Bethlehem; his wife’s parents Gerald Deutsch with Ethel Lavenburg, and Glenda Deutsch; brother-in-law David Deutsch and wife, Mimi, of Wisconsin; nephew Daniel Deutsch and godson Frank J. Sipos Jr. and wife, Anne.
