Parkland Red, Gray get season underway

The Parkland youth wrestling teams opened their season recently.

The following are highlights of their recent matches.

Parkland Red 54,

Palisades 40

The Parkland Red team got pins from Blake Dergham, Leo Dauberman, Trey Tremba and Evan Sutton in a win over Palisades. Parkland’s Chase Kruk, Matthew Velez, Evan Amadio, Leo Kern and Kale Kumernitsky earned wins by forfeit in the match.

Northwestern 45,

Parkland Red 39

Three Parkland Red wrestlers earned wins by fall in a loss to Northwestern. Matthew Velez, Jaret, Chase Brunner and Blake Dergham recorded pins, while teammates Jarett Graham, Leo Dauberman and Leo Kern got wins by decision. Trey Tremba and Kaly Kumernitsky picked up forfeit victories.

Parkland Red 59,

Pleasant Valley 34

The Trojans earned bonus points nine matches to beat Pleasant Valley.

Parkland’s Chase Brunner, Garet Hill, Evan Amadio, Trey Tremba, Nicholas Kleckner and Kale Kumernitsky all pinned their Pleasant Valley opponents. Chase Kruk and Matthew Velez won major decisions for Parkland, while Jarett Graham picked up a decision win and Leo Kern got a forfeit win.

Pocono Mountain 53, Parkland Red 39

Leo Kern, Evan Sutton, Nicholas Kleckner and Kale Kumernitzky won their matches by fall in a team loss to Pocono Mountain.

Parkland’s Chase Kruk picked up a win by decision and teammates Matthew Velez and Leo Dauberman received forfeit victories.

Parkland Red 78,

Northern Lehigh 3

The Trojans dominated in allowing just one Bulldog win and keeping Northern Lehigh from earning any bonus points.

Chase Kruk, Chase Brunner, Leo Dauberman and Evan Sutton won matches by fall for Parkland. Matthew Velez won by injury default, while teammates Own Radio, Jarett Graham won by decision. Picking up forfeit wins were Kaleb Grover, Blake Dergham, Evan Amadio, Leo Kern, Jarod Knouss and Trey Tremba.

Forks Township 58, Parkland Red 34

Parkland got four straight pins in the upper weights in a loss to Forks.

Leo Kern, Trey Tremba, Evan Sutton and Nicholas Kleckner all won by fall before Kale Kumernitsky’s win by forfeit at 160. Blake Dergham won by major decision for Parkland.

Parkland Red 65,

Catasauqua 27

Parkland got pins from Matthew Velez, Blake Dergham, Garet Hill, Leo Dauberman, Evan Amadio, and Trey Tremba in a win over Catty, while Leo Kern earned a technical fall. Teammates Jarett Graham and Kale Kumernitsky won their matches by decision.

Bangor 66,

Parkland Gray 22

Parkland Gray won five of the 12 contested bouts in a loss to Bangor.

The Trojans’ Parker Kusko and Zachary Sallit both pinned their opponent at the match. Nick Severo picked up a major decision for Parkland, while Braden Todora and Zachary Sallit won by decision.

Northampton 69,

Parkland Gray 18

The Trojans won just three matches against Northampton as Braden Todora, Nick Severo and Anthony Lara all beat their Konkrete Kid opponent by fall.

Forks Township 75,

Parkland Gray 18

Parkland’s Anthony Lara and Owen Broadhead won matches by fall in a team loss to Forks Township. Zachary Sallit and Braden Todora earned wins by decision as Parkland won just four bouts over Forks.

Saucon Valley 75, Parkland Gray 18

Parkland won two contested bouts as Anthony Lara and Braden Todora pinned their Saucon Valley opponents. Teammate Maclean Moro got a win by forfeit for the Trojans.

Stroudsburg 51, Parkland Gray 46

Parkland won half of the six contested bouts against Stroudsburg, but the Mounties picked up one more forfeit win in the match.

Colton Vitale and Own Broadhead pinned their Mountaineer opponents, while Parker Kusko earned a major decision win. Winning by forfeit for Parkland were Braden Todora, Nick Severo, Jad Sallit, Anthony Lara and Maclean Moro.

Palmerton 76,

Parkland Gray 24

Parkland won just four bouts, but the Trojans earned bonus points in each as Braden Todora, Parker Kusko, Anthony Lara and Own Broadhead all won by fall against Palmerton.

East Side 53,

Parkland Gray 36

The Trojans gave up 18 points in forfeits while the Huskies gave up just six.

Braden Todora, Parker Kusko, Anthony Lara and Own Broadhead earned wins by fall against East Side. Nick Severo picked up a forfeit victory.
