Driver dies in N. Whitehall crash

An 81-year-old Northampton County man was killed when the vehicle he was driving struck a tree around 6 p.m. April 28 in front of 3914 Mauch Chunk Road, North Whitehall Township.

Robert Drey of Lehigh Township was pronounced dead by Lehigh County Deputy Coroner Richard Kroon 6:40 p.m. at the scene, Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said.

According to the coroner’s office, an autopsy was performed April 30 to determine the cause and manner of Drey’s death.

Grim said the cause of his death is attributed to multiple blunt force injuries and ruled the death and accident.

Grim said in addition to his office, State Police Troop M, Bethlehem, are investigating the crash.

No additional information was available from police by press time.
