Sunshine Center Preschool welcomes the big top

Thursday, May 31, 2018 by DIANE HEMERLY Special to The Press in Local News

The Sunshine Center Preschool Circus was in town April 26 and 27 at Ziegels Union Church in Breinigsville.

Under the big top, Ringmaster Patricia Elliott announced the acts for the one-ring show.

The elephants, led by Laurie Rex, included Ryland Pagano, Eli Yerger, Jayden Wagner, Layla Heeps, Isabella Noll and Quinly Hanna.

These pachyderms paraded in, did tricks on and off their stands and were a hit with the crowd.

Ribbon twirlers, Katie Herrington, Keira Heffner, Katie Drey, Lorrelai Berkes, Nevaeh Gonzalez, Kora Cox and Avery Yearick dazzled the crowd with their colorful ribbons and fire batons.

All eyes were focused on the tightrope as McKenzie Lewis, Avery Langston, Bailey Moyer, Liam Sensinger and Shason Wellington walked across the balance beam, forward, backward and even blindfolded.

Jumping to great heights on the trampoline were Sophie Halbert, Hayden Pagano, Marissa Delong, Evan Kline and Cody Xander.

There was plenty of monkeying around when Klair Stine took the stage on a bouncing ball.

Flexing their muscles and making the crowd “ooh and aah” were the strongmen lifting weights of more than 5,000 pounds.

John Schopf, Brady Sell, Liam Sensinger, Giovanni Argento and Salvatore Argento showed off their strength.

Of course everybody’s favorite-the clowns with their water guns, tricks and confetti.

Joining in that fun were Jack McGonagle, Ashtyn Gehringer, Garrett Heffner, Will McGonagle, Emmett Becker and Rosemary Xander.

Scooby the dog, Jordyn Mooney drove her scooter around the ring and then followed the commands of the ringmaster.

Prancing around center ring were unicorns Maggie Fritzinger and Clowie Williams.

Last but not least were the ferocious cats being tamed by Diane Hemerly.

The lions and a tiger were led out of their cage to jump through hoops and hoops of fire.

A lot of growling came from Angelina Fugazzotto, Samantha Malcolm, Taryn Eberly, Mia Sensinger, Preston Vance and Landon Becker.

Clown aides helping with the circus were Sonya Wellington, Lena Fox, Karla Xander, Michelle Yearick, Jackie Yerger, and Jackie Heffner.

The circus culminated a monthlong unit of study on the circus.
