great passion for Pysanky

Bruce William Bodnyk, 65, of Harrisburg, died July 5, 2018, in his home.

Born in Ft. Bragg, N.C., he was the son of the late Metro and Dorothy (Shankweiler) Bodnyk.

A graduate of Pennsylvania State University, he worked as a software consultant first for AMP and recently for 3 HTi, where he taught CAD classes and worked with 3D printers.

A member of the Chambers Hill United Methodist Church, he sang with the choir and volunteered with the Grace Church Helping Hands Ministry.

He was also a member of the American Legion Post 998, having served in the Air Force.

He had a strong artistic streak and a great passion for Pysanky, woodworking and repairing and restoring antique watches and clocks.

His survivors include children Johanna, Catherine and Lucas Bodnyk; friend Deborah Battisti and partner Mary Jane Wertz; brother Michael Bodnyk and wife Sandra; sisters Ann Bodnyk and husband, David Dare, Dorothy (Bodnyk) Wesley, and Elizabeth (Bodnyk) Shrawder and husband James; and nephews.

His memorial service will be July 12, with visitation 10 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. at Chambers Hill United Methodist Church, 6300 Chambers Hill Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
