UPPER MACUNGIE: Upper Macungie offering one-day safesitter course

Upper Macungie Township and The Nanny Loft will be offering a one-day Safesitter Essentials course with CPR 9:30-4 p.m. Sept. 30.

Class content includes safety, child care, fire aid and rescue skills and life and business skills.

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall Township, is offering senior yoga with instructor Karen Klubertanz of Five Paths 10:30 a.m. Sept. 13.

Learn yoga poses to increase flexibility, strength and balance.

Teen video game night will be 6:30 p.m. Sept. 13.

Lil Builders for kids age 2 and older is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sept. 14.

Youngsters are invited to build with the library’s block collection, Magnatiles, and more.

Join library staff for a three-part series as they celebrate Pa. Dutch Heritage with local experts Jean and David 2 p.m. Sept. 14.

The library will be offering teen cupcake wars noon Sept. 15.

Come and design a cupcake with your team before time runs out.

The movie “Man in the Grey Flannel Suit” will be shown at the library’s Brown Bag Classics 1 p.m. Sept. 17.

Bring a lunch. The library will provide the beverage.

Join Kelly of Westminster Village 3 p.m. Sept. 18 for a discussion on caring for loved ones at home.

Learn what options, support and beneficial information is out there to help ease the burden.

Book Quest for adults will meet 7-8 p.m. on Sept. 18 to chat about the novel “Beartown” by Fredrik Backman.

Good Shepherd Pediatrics is offering free development screenings for children birth to age 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 19.

The Teen Anime Club will meet to chat about the latest manga series and munch on Japanese snacks 6:30-7:30 p.m. Sept. 19.

Kids ages 8-12 come and join the library’s new Young Critics Book Club to discuss the novel “The Wild Robot by Peter Brown 6:30 p.m. Sept. 20.

The library will be hosting a drop-in teen karaoke night 6:30 p.m. Sept. 24 in the meeting room at the South Whitehall Township Building.

All these programs are free and held at the library except for teen karaoke night.

Registration is needed to attend senior yoga, the Pa. Dutch talk, movie, book clubs, caregiver talk, cupcake wars and developmental screenings.

The Mission Team at Ziegels Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, will be having its annual shrimp boil 4-6 p.m. Sept. 16.

Menu includes salad, half-pound of shrimp (quarter-pound for children), sausage, potatoes, corn, drink and a dessert.

All proceeds will be used for disaster relief recovery work and the sewing ministry.

Harvest Home Sunday will be held at both worship services on Sept. 16.

The theme this year is melons but they need all types of vegetables and fruits.

Ziegels will be holding a Saturday Family Friendly Service 6-7 p.m. Sept. 22 in the Fellowship Room.

There will be a lesson, singing, a family project or activity, music and prayer followed by light refreshments.

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1028 Church St., Fogelsville, will be kicking off the new Sunday School year with Rally Day starting 9 a.m. Sept. 16.

Harvest Home Sunday at the church is scheduled for Sept. 23.

Canned goods and produce need to be at the church by 9 a.m. on Sept. 22.

All proceeds from the food sold after the service and other donations will be given to the local food bank.
