member of Jordan Lutheran Church

Sharla A. Kistler, 78, of Mars, Butler County, formerly of Schnecksville, died Sept. 26, 2018.

Born in Slatington, she was a daughter of the late Harrison H. and Bernice (Bolton) Solt Jr.

She graduated from West Chester University with a Bachelor of Science degree in music education.

In addition to being a wonderful mom, she was a self-employed piano technician for 22 years, worked for the Wildlands Conservancy as a database manager for 11 years, and taught school for three years.

She bowled, she was a cookie mom and she loved ice cream.

Her two passions were music and genealogy.

She was a member of the International Association of Piano Builders and Technicians, and the Piano Technicians Guild, serving as an officer for several years.

A member of Jordan Lutheran Church, Orefield, she lent her talents to the Jordan Chorale and Sinfonia.

She was an avid genealogist with a huge collection of books and records reflecting her years of researching her family history.

So her work will live on, she donated her collection last year to the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania, where all her research is now online and available to everyone.

Her survivors include daughters, Karen K. Sikora and husband, Mark, of Valencia, and Nancy R. Warrington of Lehighton; brother Harrison H. Solt, III and wife, Carolyn, of Gales Ferry, Conn.; sisters Harriet Felguieras and husband, Donald, of Washington Township and Kathy Kemp of Slatington; grandson Sean N. Warrington, former husband, Ronald J. Kistler, of Emmaus; and nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Oct. 6 at Jordan Lutheran Church, 5103 Snowdrift Road, Orefield, with the Rev. Dody S. Siegfried officiating.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m.

Interment will be at the church Cemetery.
