UPPER MACUNGIE Canines to be barking with joy at Barktoberfest on Oct. 13

Upper Macungie Township will host its sixth annual Barktoberfest 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 13 at Upper Macungie Park, 1625 N. Route 100, Fogelsville. Rain date is Oct. 14.

This free event will feature a pet parade, DJ, shows, demonstrations, costume contest, food and plenty vendors.

The township is having a photo scavenger hunt until Oct. 15 for residents to display their love of the community’s parks.

Contestants with the most cumulative points will win a prize.

Upper Macungie Station 56, Fogelsville Station 8 and Trexlertown Station 25 are having a Big 3 Fire Prevention Open House noon-3 p.m. Oct. 21 at Station 56, located at 6150 Schantz Road.

There will be fall safety education and self-participation events, lifesaving demonstrations, food and more.


Trick-or-Treat Night is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Oct. 26. Rain date is on Oct. 27.


There will be a shredding event for residents only 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. rain or shine, Oct. 27 at Grange Road Park, 360 Grange Road.

Only paper documents will be accepted. No photos, X-rays or heavy plastics.

No need to remove staples. There is a five bag or box limit per person.

Indoor basketball will be played 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. until Nov. 29 for participants 21 and older at Jaindl Elementary School, 1051 Weilers Road, Breinigsville.

Equipment is provided.

Pickup volleyball will be offered until April 30, 2019 for participants 14 and older 8-10 p.m. Tuesdays at Fogelsville Elementary School, 3125 Route 100, Fogelsville.


St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran, 1028 Church St., Fogelsville, will have a Halloween hot dog stand 6-8 p.m. Oct. 26 in front of Strohl Automotive, 7831 Main St., Fogelsville.

Everyone is invited to stop by during Trick-or Treat Night.


Ziegels Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, is hosting its annual Trunk or Treat 4:15-6:30 p.m. on Oct. 20.

All youth are invited to participate in their favorite Halloween costume.

Prizes will be awarded for the best decorated trunks.

If you plan on decorating your trunk, arrive by 4 p.m. Trunkers must stay with their vehicles.

The judging begins 5:15 p.m. with the top four prizes announced at 6 p.m.

They are also looking for donations of cupcakes, juice, apple cider and other goodies.

St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran, 8227 Hamilton Blvd., Trexlertown, will be hosting a Maggie Spike concert 7-8 p.m. Oct. 17.

They will also be holding a Trunk or Treat night 6:30-8 p.m. Oct. 24.
