Lions host Christmas party
Allentown Kuhnsville Area Lions Club hosted its annual Christmas party for hearing and visually impaired children and adults Dec. 8 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Fogelsville.
David Daniel with the Lions Club spoke with The Press before the party began.
This is the eighth year the Lions Club has hosted this party for local residents who are hearing or visually impaired, Daniel said.
“The Western Lehigh Lions Club originally started hosting these parties years ago but when they disbanded, we took over hosting the party,” Daniel said.
“Strohl Automotive Services, Keller Funeral Home, Lowe and Moyer Garage Inc., all in Fogelsville, and Burkholder Funeral Home and Art’s Servicenter, both in Allentown, helped fund this year Christmas party,”
Lion Dale Clauser, of Upper Macungie, also commented.
“The donations from the club’s chicken barbecue are what help us pay for what we do here for the hearing-impaired and blind children,” Clauser said.
St. John’s UCC Busy Bee members Sue Snyder, Marlene Hutchinson, Kay Kleinschuster, Sandi Minnich, Marjorie Cope, Catherine Csencitz, Erika Ortland and Beulah and Kenneth Snyder helped prepare, cook and serve the meal at the party.
The meal included hamburger and turkey barbecue, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, lettuce with baked dressing, vegetables, pretzels, chips and beverages.
Cake and cupcakes were provided by members of the Lions Club.
Before lunch, Earl the elf and his assistant Elmer, who were assisted by Bob Schantz and Braden Rutter, made balloon art for party guests.
After lunch, Santa, assisted by Larry Moyer, made an appearance to hand out envelopes containing $20 to the guests.
Lehigh and Northampton 14K Lions Club District Gov. Karlene Laub, Past District 14K Gov. John Kratzer, Lions District Zone Chairwoman Wendy Naugle, and Allentown Kuhnsville Area Lions Club President Dave Wisser, Events Coordinator Marjorie Spencer, Assistant Events Coordinator Carol Kuhns, and Assistant Jackie Spencer also attended the party.
