Parkland girls top Lions, Zephyrs
The Parkland girls basketball team had a busy schedule heading into its winter break as the Trojans played three games over three days, all on the road. The team has no games scheduled until the new year when it hosts Easton and Pocono Mountain West on back-to-back nights Jan. 3-4, respectively.
Here are some recaps of last week’s games.
The Trojans beat Red Lion 61-37 in a nonleague game at Kutztown University last Saturday.
Parkland jumped out to a 12-6 lead after the first quarter and was ahead 24-15 at halftime as Claire Courter scored six of her game-high 19 points in the first quarter. She poured in eight more in the fourth quarter as Parkland out-scored the Lions 25-8 in the final quarter to pull away.
Lindsay Berger had 13 points for Parkland (6-2 overall, 3-1 East Penn Conference).
The Trojans beat Whitehall 32-26 last Friday night.
Parkland held the Zephyrs to just nine first-half points and was up 16-9 at the break.
Courter scored 14 points in the win.
The Trojans lost a nonleague game at Dunmore last Thursday in the first of three games in three days.
Parkland’s Kassidy Stout scored 12 points in the game. Dunmore had four players score in double-figures in the win.
