PHS swimmers earn sweep over Canaries

Parkland swept Allen in a swim meet last week. The Trojan girls team won 149-31, while Parkland’s boys rolled to a 134-32 victory.

In the girls meet, Shefalee Rane (200 free, breaststroke) won a pair of individual events, while teammates Natalie Link (IM), Kayla Johnson (50 free), Lexi Lehman (diving) Devon Corvaia (butterfly), Lauren Ceh (100 free), Claire Weaver (500 free) and Abigial Kirsopp (backstroke) won one individual event each.

Parkland’s girls teams also swept the relay races. Corvaia, Rane, Kirsopp and Link teamed up to win the medley relay. Corvaia, Isabel Sheridan, Rane and Hillary Roth formed the winning 200 freestyle relay team, while Ceh, Corvaia, Sophie Stevenson and Briana Zaffiro capped the meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay.

In the boys meet, Ben Marko (IM, 500 free) and Karl Schmidt (50 free, 100 free) both won a pair of individual events for Parkland, while teammates David Engler (200 free), Ethan Redio (diving), Nicholas Carter (butterfly), Luke Willard (backstroke) and Hyunwoo Kim (breaststroke) each won one individual event.

All three boys relay teams picked up wins in the meet. Carter, Kim, Marko and Gavin Deutsch formed the winning medley relay team. Eran Bizati, Kim, Willard and Schmidt made up the first-place 200 freestyle relay team. Carter, Engler, Douglas Graham and Marko finished off the meet with a victory in the 400 freestyle relay.
