Vernon H. Bailey, 91, formerly of Bechtelsville and Kempton, died March 9, 2019, in Chestnut Knoll Assisted Living, Boyertown.

He and his wife Dorothy S. (Stauffer) Bailey celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in April 2018.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Titus J. and Verna J. (Heffner) Bailey.

His mother died in childbirth and he was raised by his aunt and uncle, the late Earl and Irene (Bailey) Bond.

His twin brother, Titus H., was raised by the late Minnie and Howard Bailey, all of Kempton.

He was formerly a state liquor store manager for different stores in Berks County for 29 years until retiring in 1984.

A veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy, he later served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was a life member of the National Rifle Association.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jean B., wife of Edward Wood, of Perkiomenville; and grandchildren Joshua and Alyssa Wood.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Martha L. Reinert, and his twin brother Titus H.

His service and interment will be at the convenience of the family. Kindly omit flowers as per his last wishes.
