Auditions set

Friday, April 12, 2019 by The Press in Focus

Crowded Kitchen Players will hold auditions for its original comedy, “Topsy Turvy.”

In the early 1930s, having grown tired of the vapid romantic comedies and historical dramas that made her a star, Louise Antoinette strikes a self-compromising bargain with a rapacious movie studio boss that will enable her to direct and play the lead in a motion picture intended to help liberate and empower women, a screen adaptation of the bawdy Greek anti-war comedy, “Lysistrata.”

Needed are six men and six women ages 21 and older to play early Hollywood movie actors as well as characters in scenes from Aristophanes’ “Lysistrata.”

Auditions will be held 7-9 p.m. April 15 in The Kitchen, 1680 Minesite Road, Allentown.

Those auditioning will be asked to read from the script with scene partners. Those auditioning may choose to deliver a prepared monologue of his or her choice.

“Topsy Turvy” will be performed June 14-23, The Charles A. Brown IceHouse, Bethlehem.
