Candidate seeks votes for Parkland School Board

Wednesday, May 8, 2019 by The Press in Opinion

To the Editor:

My name is Patrick H. Foose and I am a candidate for the Parkland School Board.

I believe we need to “Inspire the Next Generation.”

This is why I support the investment of programs that promote the health and development of the whole child.

The arts, sports, foreign language, finance, life and technical skills are vital in providing a well-rounded education.

In turn, this will enhance a student’s ability to understand culture, diversity, and learn 21st century skills.

Jean Piaget once said, “The goal of education is not to increase the amount of knowledge but to create the possibilities for a child to invent and discover, to create men [and women] who are capable of doing new things.”

As a society, we need to ensure our children are prepared with a “tool kit” that they can use to be successful throughout life. In order to achieve these goals, it is paramount that we think outside of the box and use a student centric approach to help guide the process of learning.

Additionally, we need to ensure every student feels that they belong and know that their peers and educators believe in them.

In essence, we need to inspire unity, by embracing diversity.

The Municipal Primary Election is on Tuesday, May 21.

I am asking for your vote, so your voice can be heard.

I am ready and willing to put the time and effort that is required to ensure the financial and academic stability in Parkland remains strong.

Please vote Patrick H. Foose for the Parkland School Board.
