Parkland school bus driver

Roger F. Long, 77, of Schnecksville, died May 16, 2019, from acute promyelocytic leukemia in Lehigh Valley Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

The loving husband of Margaret M. (Hanby) Long, the couple would have celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary on May 31.

He was the son of the late Willard B. and Kathryn E. (Foulke) Long.

A 1959 graduate of Allentown High School, he attended Christ Evangelical Congregational Church, both in Allentown.

He loved being a school bus driver for the Parkland School District and singing his good morning and good evening songs to the elementary children.

He previously worked for Mack Trucks and A&B Meats and was an over-the-road truck driver for awhile, in addition to having his own business, Roger Long Deer Cutting for 39 years.

He loved his family dearly, was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and his family will miss him greatly.

He and his wife loved to travel and they took many trips and cruises in the United States and in Europe.

A true Eagles fan, he also loved going to NASCAR races and watching them on TV with his boys.

He enjoyed putting his two antique cars in car shows, especially his 1939 Plymouth which he had since he was 18.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Roger C. and his fiancée, Joy, Timothy F., Steve A. and his wife, Jill, Daniel E. and his wife Renee; stepdaughter Christin J. Kates and her fiancé Mike; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son Kenneth W. and a brother Ronald W.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to a charity of one’s choice or to the church, 2135 W. Tilghman St., Allentown, PA 18104.
