The Ironton Rail-Trail Oversight Commission plans to set up a committee of its members to come up with ideas and recommendations for the board to consider and implement as it moves forward, taking into account many are charter members and appointees.
Ray Deutsch of North Whitehall Township said during the July meeting, that looking ahead 10- to 15 years, changes are likely to occur as its fold has most members in the 60- and 70-year-old age bracket.
The Ironton Rail Trail will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a ribbon cutting between 10-10:30 a.m. June 12 on its trail that extends into North Whitehall Township. Also featured are a 5-K walk/run and exhibits.
Walkers start 9:30 a.m. Runners start 10 a.m, at the North Whitehall recreation area, 3256 Levans Road.
Race day registration is from 8-9:15 a.m.
Packet pick up is between 3-7 p.m. June 10 at The Emmaus Run Inn Store.

The Ironton Rail Trail Oversight Commission recently met in the Whitehall Township Community Room at the municipal building, to make plans for its 20th anniversary.
The event will begin with a 5-K run/walk June 12 at the North Whitehall Township Athletic fields. The celebration will also include a ceremony, at which elected and civic dignitaries will participate, and a festival.
There will be many displays at the main trail head.
The oversight commission agreed to participate in Wildlands Conservancy’s 20th anniversary of the Lehigh River Sojourn June 27.
