Penn State LV exhibit: A reception 5 - 7 p.m. Jan. 29, which is free and open to the public, will be held for "Artists View Our World," which continues through April 15, The Ronald K. De Long Gallery at Penn State Lehigh Valley, 2809 Saucon Valley Road, Center Valley, Upper Saucon Township. The exhibition features the work of Khalil Allaik, Douglas Ihlenfeld and Susan Barnes, including "Inventing Ground" (oil and paper on canvas), above, by Barnes. "Artists create worlds within worlds.

Urban folk: The Ronald K. De Long Gallery at Penn State Lehigh Valley presents "Greg Weaver: Urban American Folk Artist," Sept. 2 - Dec. 12. The exhibition showcases work, including, above, "Chicken, Cow and Tree" (Acrylic on canvas, 4 ft. x 7 ft.) by the late Allentown artist spanning 20 years of a career cut short by his death in 1994 from complications because of diabetes. His boyhood friend, Rook Jones, saved, preserved and cataloged hundreds of works. A reception is 5 - 7 p.m. Oct. 2. An auction of the exhibited work is 6 p.m. Dec. 12. Gallery hours: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

"Existence" exhibition: An opening reception for the exhibition, "Más allá de la existencia" ("Beyond The Existence"), will be held 5 - 10 p.m. Feb. 14, Valentine's Day, at surrealist artist Rigo Peralta's studio gallery, 1131 Linden St., Allentown. The exhibition is named for the painting, "Beyond The Existence," above. Peralta's studio gallery opened in October 2013. Peralta's former studio was at the Banana Factory, Bethlehem.

"Train" your "Dinosaur": "Jim Henson's Dinosaur Train Live: Buddy's Big Adventure," 7 p.m. Jan. 24, Miller Symphony Hall, 23 N. Sixth St., Allentown. Children are transported on a journey back to the Mesozoic Era when dinosaurs roamed the earth .... and rode in trains. The popular PBS children's television show is brought to life through multi-media, music and puppetry. Buddy, Tiny, Shiny, Don, giant Laura, teeny Tiny and their friends and family star in the original musical where the audience is a part of the show.

Coin op: "Coin Expo," 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Nov. 2, Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum (LVHM), 432 W. Walnut St., Allentown, features guest curator Stephen Gehringer and expert numismatists exhibiting, with more than 20 dealers expected. "Currency represents our nation's growth and how it has grappled with the financial problems. Currency tells the story of our local and national history," says LVHM Executive Director Joseph Garrera. Painting "Mystery": The Baum School of Art begins its 2013 - 14 exhibition season with a reception 6 - 8 p.m. Sept. 18 for "Rob Evans: Mystery & Metaphor," including "Fossil" (mixed media, 27 in. by 38 in., 1997), above, through Oct. 19, The David E. Rodale and Rodale Family Galleries at the Baum, 510 Linden St. Allentown. The paintings of Evans, a guest and spotlight artist Oct. 19 at The Baum School of Art Annual Gala, are inspired by the landscape of the Susquehanna River area where he lives with his family near Wrightsville, York County.

A region of art: "Milan Melicharek: Regional Landscapes," contiinues through Aug. 9 in the Rodale Family Gallery, The Baum School of Art, 510 Linden St., Allentown. Melicharek's work captures the captivating and moody landscapes of Pennsylvania and Maine. The exhibition includes, above, "Grist Mill With Sheep" (Acrylic, 24 in by 36 in.). Melicharek was a teacher at Northwestern Lehigh High School for 32 years. During his career and since his retirement, he has created many paintings, had solo exhibitions, and participated in and won honors in juried shows in the tri-state area.

You really got him: Dave Davies, the legendary co-founder of the seminal British Invasion rock band, The Kinks, is in concert 8 p.m. June 1, Musikfest Cafe, ArtsQuest Center, SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem. Guitarist Davies, seen above on the cover of his latest album, "I Will Be Me" (set for release June 4), was an integral part of the quartet that helped shape the sound of rock with Top 10 hits like "All Day and All of the Night," "Lola," "Tired of Waiting for You" and "You Really Got Me," the latter of which features his iconic guitar riff to kick off the song.
