Visit with Santa on Dec. 1

Cedar Lutheran Church, 3419 Broadway, Cetronia, is having a Visit with Santa 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 1.

Children can have their photographs taken with Santa and then have lunch.

Menu includes hot dog or chicken barbecue with chips and lemonade, iced tea or water.

Babysitting will be available 1-3 p.m. for a per child fee.

There is a fee for photo and lunch, or for lunch only.

No personal photo equipment allowed.

Reservations are needed to attend.

Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

Hazel M. Wehr Kidd, 91, of Slatington, died on Nov. 27, 2012, in Liza's House, Danielsville.

She was the wife of the late Frederick W. Kidd and Walter W. Wehr.

Born Sept. 28, 1921, in Nazareth, she was the daughter of the late Granville F. and Annie M. (Mayer) Flick.

She faithfully and honorably served her country in the U.S. Army during World War II with a WAC Detachment at Camp Shanks, N.Y.

She was a bookkeeper for the former Holiday Fashions, Slatedale, for 16 years before retiring in 1981.

Henry J. Duda, 70, from Breinigsville, died Nov. 22, 2012, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He and his wife Teresa A. (Michalek) Duda were married 41 years in August.

Born in Poland, he was the son of the late Rudolph and Marie (Kotas) Duda.

He was a maintenance mechanic at Stroh Brewery for 27 years.

He was of the Lutheran faith.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Monica Duda Esq. of New York City, N.Y.; son, Lt. Col. Roger Duda M.D. in Washington, D.C.; and sister Halina Dzidek in Poland.

Model Railroad

Society to hold open house

The Carbon Model Railroad Society will have an open house 7-9 p.m. Thursdays Nov. 29 through Jan. 3, 2013, at 529 Ore St., Bowmanstown.

The display also be open 1-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays Nov. 24 through Dec. 9 and again the weekend of Jan. 5, 2013.

The main "HO" scale display is in various stages of completion and is an excellent learning tool.

The club's portable "HO" and "N" displays will be in operation on the second floor. There will be new and pre-owned accessories for sale. Admission is free.

Contest set for Jan. 4

The Knights of Columbus Council 10921 of St. Joseph the Worker, Orefield, will be hosting its annual free throw contest for boys and girls 3:30-6 p.m. Jan. 4, 2013, in the church gymnasium.

Registration is 3:30 p.m. with shooting starting 4:15 p.m.

Proof of age (between ages 10 to 14 as of Jan.1, 2013) and parents written permission is required to participate.

This is a non-denominational event and there is no entry fee.

Winners of their respective divisions will advance to district, regional and state competitions.
