The song, "Happy Days are Here Again," was written in 1929 with music by Milton Ager and lyrics by Jack Yellen.

It's best remembered as Franklin Delano Roosevelt's campaign song during his first successful 1932 presidential campaign.

Some historians have said the song became very popular with the repeal of Prohibition on April 7, 1933. The song is No. 47 on the Recording Industry Association of America's "Songs of the Century" list. As of 2006, there were 76 commercially-released versions of the song.

ESSA Bank & Trust names CRA officer

ESSA Bank & Trust has announced the addition of Sharon Griffith as CRA Officer and Mortgage Loan Origination Manager.

She is responsible for identifying opportunities and needs within the bank's Community Reinvestment Act assessment areas as well as overseeing the mortgage loan origination staff in the Pocono and Lehigh Valley regions.

Griffith has more than 30 years of financial experience with a background in overseeing consumer and commercial loans, developing deposit and loan business, and managing wealth management relationships.

Burns & McDonnell hires project aide

Burns & McDonnell has hired Taylor Johnson of Macungie as an Assistant Project Manager, working out of the firm's offices in Allentown and Dunmore, Lackawanna County.

Johnson has more four years of industry experience, most recently as a Project Engineer for Encore Electric Inc., Denver.

Burns & McDonnell is providing program management services for the PPL Electric Utilities' (PPL) portion of the Susquehanna-Roseland Transmission Project, an electric infrastructure improvements project.

LV auto dealers add to employment rolls

The Greater Lehigh Valley Auto Dealers Association (GLVADA) has announced results of its 2012 Economic Impact Report.

GLVADA Executive Director Tom Kwiatek and Dan Rothrock, chair of GLVADA's marketing committee, shared key insights from the latest report solicited by the association, which provides information about the dealerships impact on the region.

Among key findings:

Total indirect and direct jobs attributed to GLVADA member dealerships totaled 4,190 in 2012, up 315 positions from 2011.

The Allentown Band, with Conductor Ronald Demkee will be giving a free concert 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at West Park, 16th and Turner streets, Allentown.

The band will also be performing 7 p.m. Aug. 14 at Phoebe Home, 1923 Turner St., Allentown.

This concert is being sponsored by Phoebe Home Auxiliary.
