Victor R. Geiger, 75, of Lehighton, died April 24, 2013, in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. He and his wife Patricia J. (Frey) Geiger celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary on April 15.

Born Dec. 11, 1937, in Schnecksville, he was the son of the late Victor C. and Lillie G. (Koehler) Geiger, and the stepson of Marion E. (Mack) Geiger.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during a peacetime era.

An Upper Macungie Township police responded 2:27 a.m. April 27 for a report of a break at a home in the 00 block of Balsam St., Upper Macungie Township.

According to police, a window screen was cut out of an open window on the second floor.

No entry into the home was made and nothing was reported stolen.

Pa. State Police seeking applicants for camp

State Police Troop M Bethlehem will be conducting its 29th Camp Cadet June 16-21 at Camp Fowler, Orefield.

This year 90 cadets will be selected to have a first hand opportunity to experience what it takes to become a law enforcement officer.

To be eligible for Camp Cadet, a boy and girl must be at least 12 years old but not older than 14 by May 1; be a resident of Lehigh or Northampton counties; and must be in good physical condition.

Civil War Round Table of Eastern Pennsylvania will host Attorney Malcolm Gross May 7 at Days Inn, 3400 Airport Road, Allentown.

He will be discussing "The Trial of John Brown."

Dinner is at 6:30 p.m. Program at 7:30 p.m.

Reservations required for the dinner be made by May 2.

There is a fee for both the dinner and program.

Fersammling set for May 11

Donald Breininger, a speaker on the Pa. German dialect circuit, will give a presentation at the Pennsylvania German Friends 22nd annual Fersammling at 1 p.m. May 11 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 1933 Hanover Ave., Allentown.

This event is open to the public.

The Fersammling is a banquet, featuring traditional Pa. German fare and an address in the dialect.

Speaking "Dutch" is not a requirement to attend and enjoy the event, and no one is "fined" for using English words.

There is a per person fee to attend.

Randy L. Holtzhafer Sr., 50, of Trexlertown, died April 29, 2013, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He and his wife,Carol A. (Arnold) Holtzhafer would have been married 25 years this month.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of Kenneth P. and Jeanette Ann (Kehm) Holtzhafer of Allentown.

He was a truck driver for ATAS Int. for 20 years.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Fogelsville.
