Summer annual grasses continue to be pervasive weed problems in many turfgrass areas throughout the Lehigh Valley. The most common summer annual grasses in turf include crabgrasses (Digitaria spp.) and goosegrass (Eleusine indica). Satisfactory control of these weeds can be obtained by cultural methods, provided the life cycle of the plant is understood.
The second annual KidsPeace Community Yard Sale will be held 8 a.m.- 2 p.m. Aug. 24, KidsPeace Family Center, 1650 Broadway, Salisbury Township.
In the event of rain, the sale will be held indoors.
Community members, crafters and vendors are welcome to reserve a space for a minimum donation.
The deadline to register for a spot is Aug. 19. Participants must bring their own tables. Vendors keep profits from sales.
Proceeds from reservations benefit KidsPeace Autism Services & Community Programs.
The Musikfest 30th Anniversary App, available for free at the iTunes Store and developed by Trifecta Technologies and ArtsQuest, is now available.
The app, sponsored by Martin Guitar, includes performance schedules by date and venue, biographies for 300 performers, festival updates in real time and search options so patrons can look for their favorite music and vendors.
The app includes an interactive festival map, parking and general festival information, and contests, promotions and discounts available only to app users.
Cody Simpson will present a free acoustic concert, 11 a.m. July 31, Musikfest Café, SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem.
The Simpson concert, presented by B104, ArtsQuest and Atlantic Records, is open to the first 1,000 in line July 31. No ticket is required.
However, B104 and ArtsQuest, are giving away a limited number of VIP tickets for the performance.
In addition, a limited number of meet and greet passes will be distributed by B104 and ArtsQuest via contests on B104, as well as online at B104.com and artsquest.org.
An exhibition by Rigo Peralta continues through July 31, Civic Theater Of Allentown, Theatre514, 514 N. 19th St., Allentown.
Peralta, born in the Dominican Republic, is a surrealist artist. whose work is rich with symbolic imagery and majesty and often depicts the contradictory aspects of human nature.
Through his art, Peralta tries to reconcile primal or magical nature within the confines of modernization and technology.

The Lehigh Valley Wine Trail celebrates the 10th anniversary of its Wine on the Mountain festival, noon - 5 p.m. July 27, July 28, Penn's Peak, Jim Thorpe.
Wine on the Mountain features wine samplings and sales from Lehigh Valley wineries, local artisans displaying their arts and crafts, and light fare available for purchase from Roadies Restaurant.
There is also music by the Billy Bauer Duo July 27 and the Jake Kaligis Dynamic Duo July 28. The venue offers panoramic views of Beltzville Lake and the surrounding Appalachian mountainside from its large open-air deck.
