Althea M. Hatcher, 88, of Trexlertown, died on Feb. 8, 2013, in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill.
She was the wife of the late Porter L. Hatcher.
Born March 28, 1924, in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late David J. and Mabel (Warmkessel) Kemp.
She was employed as an invisible reweaver at Genesco, formerly Phoenix Clothes, Allentown, for 26 years before retiring.
Marion A. Betz, 87, of Orefield, died on Feb. 11, 2013, in Phoebe Home, Allentown. She was the widow of Carl H. Betz.
Born in Haafsville, she was a daughter of the late James and Florence (Heil) Wenner.
She worked beside her husband in the family business Carl H. Betz, Inc. and was employed for several years at the Orefield Post Office.
She was a member of Morgenland Church, Orefield.
She was affiliated with the Crippled Children's Society, Heart Association and other social agencies.
Thomas W. Paxson, 74, of Allentown, died peacefully Feb. 6, 2013, inCedarbrook surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late William A. and Hilda E. (Roth) Paxson.
He and his wife Maryrose (Donahue) Paxson were married 52 years on April 23, 2012.
He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Allentown.
A 1956 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School, he proudly served in the US Army.
He returned home and worked many years as a technician in the plating department of General Electric, Allentown.
Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown, will be having an Off-the-Page Poetry and Open Mic Night 7-8:30 p.m. Feb. 27.
This will be a platform for poets, storytellers and musicians to share their works and the inspiration behind them in an intimate setting.

stolen from vehicles
Upper Macungie Township police say Aubrey Wilkinson, Justin Hoffert and Matthew Zalik reported wallets, GPS units and a purse were stolen from unlocked vehicles at 6765 and 6777 Windemere Court, sometime during the overnight hours of Feb. 7.
In a separate incident, police say three unsecured vehicles had items stolen from them in the Heatherfield Community, sometime between 6 p.m. Feb. 3 and 5:30 a.m. the next day.
Police say two of the vehicles were located on Snowy Orchid Lane; the other was located on Wild Mint Lane.
Agnes M. Frisch, 95, of Orefield, died Feb. 4, 2013, in her home, surrounded by her family.
She was the wife of the late Charles Frisch.
Born Sept. 26, 1917, in Coplay, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Agnes (Schwartz) Yost.
She was an assembly worker at the former General Electric, Allentown, for 23 years before retiring.
She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield.
The Knitting Club of Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown, will meet from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Feb. 16.
Knitters, with a lifetime of knitting and needlework experience, will teach others a stitch or two.
In return, newer knitters can teach others some contemporary patterns and cutting-edge techniques.
Other needlework crafts is welcome. The group will meet once a month.

Asbury United Methodist Church, 1533 Springhouse Road, South Whitehall Township, will be having its fifth annual chili cook-off 5-8 p.m. March 16.
The community is invited to taste 40 chilies from professional, amateur and firehouse chefs and vote for their favorites. Free-will donations will support the ministries of the Lehigh County Conference of Churches.

Eugene Dimovitz, 61, of Breinigsville, died Feb. 10, 2013, in Lehigh Valley Hospital.
He and his wife Melanie D. (Derr) Dimovitz were married 37 years Dec. 20, 2012.
Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Rose Dimovitz.
A retired equipment operator for Kraft Foods, he previously worked at Bonney Forge and Sondra Manufacturing.
He was a member of Macungie Christian Community.
He was a past president and very active member of Western Lehigh Lions Club.
