Bill Albert is named 2012 Outstanding Fair Ambassador

The Great Allentown Fair President William J. "Bill" Albert was presented with the 2012 Outstanding Fair Ambassador award at the fair's opening ceremony.

In addition to annually being elected as the President of the Lehigh County Agricultural Society since 2008, Albert has been the long-time fair board liaison to the blue ribbon competitive exhibit de-partment that judges and showcases more than 9,000 entries in agriculture, horticulture, domestic and fine arts each year.

Parkland Library offering technology petting zoo

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, is offering drop-in storytime for families with children of all different ages 10:30-11 a.m. Oct. 5. No registration is required.

Movie night will take place 6:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 9 in the South Whitehall Township Building, 4444 Walbert Ave.

A technology petting zoo for hands-on interaction with gadgets such as iPad, iPod, Kindle, Nook is being offered in the library 1:30-6 p.m. Oct. 10.

Staff will be available to answer questions and share tips.

Harold Reitz voted Best on the Boardwalk

Harold Reitz, an Orefield resident well-known for his appearances as PitStop the clown and for his many prizes in the Philadelphia Mummers parade, has won another accolade.

At the recent Clown Fest in Seaside Heights, N.J., Reitz received the Peoples' Choice award as the favorite clown on the boardwalk.

In Seaside Heights for three-and-a-half days of classes, Reitz said clown contestants were sent to the boardwalk one day to interact and perform with the tourists and residents.
