Extensive emergency personnel training leads to smooth resolution of incident at high school

A lockdown at Parkland High School Sept. 14 could have led students, parents and administrators into panic mode; however, extensive emergency training helped ensure calm while a suspicious incident was investigated.

Around 4:45 p.m. that Friday, a teacher noticed an individual dressed in camouflage running up to the flagpole at the high school, saluting, saying a prayer and running toward the building.

Following proper procedure, the teacher called the 911 communications center...

Someone, somewhere in the Lehigh Valley just heard those three life-changing words, "you have cancer."

This news can be devastating.

One of the greatest challenges for patients isn't the lack of treatment. It's lack of transportation.

Your American Cancer Society is there to help lift the burden through its Road to Recovery program, which provides trained volunteers who give cancer patients free rides to and from cancer treatments.

Just three days after the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, and the murders of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, Information Management Officer Sean Smith and two former Navy Seals at the consulate in Benghazi, Libya, emergency crews responded en masse to Parkland High School.

End nears for LCA wastewater plant hearings in North Whitehall

The public hearing on the proposed LCA wastewater treatment plant for some 5 acres of land to be subdivided from KidsPeace property in Schnecksville was re-opened Sept. 10.

Jeanene Bauer, of the citizens group, The Voice of The Jordan, took a seat before the board and presented some additional evidence.

She acquired additional copies of paperwork from the Department of Environmental Protection concerning alleged violations on operations at LCA wastewater treatment plants.
