The following Allentown residents were recently named to the dean's list at University of the Sciences, Philadelphia, for attaining a GPA of 3.4 during their spring 2012 semester:
Allison Beers, doctor of pharmacy student; Sean Maydick, doctor of pharmacy student; Teresa Melick, master of occupational therapy student; and Jocelyn Shubella, pharmaceutical and healthcare studies student.

arrested for DUI
State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Steven Angel Werkheiser, 28, of Easton, was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol 1:20 p.m. Aug. 4.
Police say Werkheiser was driving a 2005 Honda Civic on Route 22 eastbound at Interstate 476, South Whitehall Township, where police allegedly observed him speeding, tailgating multiple vehicles, swerving in his lane and changing lanes five times without using a turn signal.

Darren Lorah, a 2011 graduate of Parkland High School, qualified for West Virginia University's dean's honor list for the spring 2012 semester.
Lorah is studying civil engineering.

A Penske rental box truck and a tractor trailer hauling steel I beams collided at the intersection of Grim Road and the Route 222 By-pass around 10 a.m. Aug. 13. The collision ruptured a fuel tank on the tractor causing a major fuel spill that helped feed a fire in the tractor section of the rig.
Morgan E. Snyder of Germansville graduated summa cum laude from Albright College at the school's 153rd commencement ceremony May 20.
Snyder received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and elementary, early childhood and special education.
