Sunglasses stolen

from vehicle

A 30-year-old woman reported to State Police Troop M Bethlehem that a pair of black Oakley sunglasses valued at $200 and $3 in change was stolen from her unlocked vehicle in the 5000 block of Elmhurst Drive, North Whitehall Township, sometime between 5 p.m. Sept. 9 and 7:30 a.m. the next day.

Anyone with information about this theft is asked to contact state police at 610-861-2026 and reference incident number M01-1425436.

Signe Witson, LSW, is presenting a Life Space Crisis Intervention Skills for Parents program from 7-8:30 p.m. Oct. 4, Nov. 1 and Dec. 6 at Parkland Community Library, Walbert Avenue, South Whitehall.

WAEB 790 AM radio is having its annual spaghetti dinner to benefit the Allentown Rescue Mission 4-7:30 p.m. Oct 6 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1533 Springhouse Road, South Whitehall Township.

The dinner will feature morning radio personality Bobby Gunther Walsh, thousands of his famous, secret-recipe, homemade meatballs and all-you-can-eat spaghetti.

There is no fee for dinner, but a free-will offering is encouraged.

My birthday will be here soon. I will celebrate it by doing absolutely nothing.

I have jokingly dubbed my birthday "National Do Nothing Productive Day."

It's not celebrated nationally but it should be. It's not that I think my birthday is worthy of becoming a holiday, but rather I believe modern life has become overscheduled, making it necessary to actively seek time to do nothing.

The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society is offering its annual $1,000 Myrtle Siegfried MD, and Michael Vigilante MD, scholarship to first-year medical students who are residents of Berks, Lehigh or Northampton counties.

Requirements include full-time enrollment in an accredited U.S. medical school.
