Ronald R. Bittner, 71, of Whitehall, formerly of New Tripoli, died Aug. 13, 2012, at home.

Born in Pleasant Corners, Heidelberg Township, he was the son of the late Russell and Violet (Wiesner) Bittner.

A 1963 graduate of Rider College, formerly in Trenton, N.J., he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in commerce.

He was a manager and buyer for Hess's Department Store for many years and also worked for Dun & Bradstreet, Bethlehem.

He was a member of Heidelberg Lutheran Church, Heidelberg Township, and was a member of the Grundsow Lodge in Kutztown.

Terry L. Peters, 59, of North Whitehall Township, died Aug. 6, 2012, surrounded by his loving family, in his home.

He and his wife Ros-anne F. (Leshko) Peters celebrated their 39th anniversary Aug. 12, 2011.

Born April 21, 1953, in Allentown, he was the son of the late Paul J. Sr. and Betty (Rumfield) Peters.

A member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Local 600, he was a carpenter foreman at Duggan and Marcon Inc., Bethlehem, for 32 years before retiring in 2006.

He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield.

Arthur H. Muth

Arthur H. Muth, 91, of Allentown, died July 31, 2012, in his home.

He was the husband of the late Marie C. (Green) Muth.

Born in Upper Macungie Township, he was the son of the late Wilson E. and Mamie F. J. (Mohr) Muth.

He was a member of Cedar Union Church, Cetronia. He was also a member of American Legion Post 0480 of Kutztown and the Kutztown Optimist Club.

Having honorably served his country in the Army during World War II, he was a member of American Legion Post 480, Kutztown. He was a forklift operator.

Ruth Carolyn Williams, 76, of Schnecksville, died Aug. 1, 2012, in the home of her daughter, Karen, and son-in-law, Linus in Midlothian, Va.

She was the wife of Homer Earl Williams.

The couple celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary last June 27.

Born Nov. 5, 1935, in Upper Macungie Township, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Dorothea (Muth) Dehrs.

She was a customer service representative at the former Wachovia Bank, Cedar Crest Branch, before retiring.

Charles Robert McAnall III, 72, of Slatington, died on July 31, 2012, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He was the life partner of Ronald K. DeLong.

Born June 28, 1940, in Canton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Charles Robert Jr. and Vivian Elizabeth (Farr) McAnall.

A graduate of Hoover High School, class of 1958, North Canton, Ohio, he also was a 1962 graduate of Oberlin College Conservatory of Music, including his junior year of studies in Salzburg, Austria; a 1965 SMM graduate of the School of Sacred Music at Union Theological Seminary.

Jewel E. MacWilliam, 81, formerly of Allentown, died Aug. 1, 2012, in Westminster Village.

She was the widow of James H. MacWilliam.

Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Beulah (Schmoyer) Schoch.

A graduate of Allentown High School and Kutztown University, she was a public school librarian for 31-1/2 years.

She was a member of Boulevard Evangelical Congregational Church, Allentown.

She was a member of various educational and library organizations.

She is survived by her cousins.

Austin Tyler Zalik

Austin Tyler Zalik, 21, of Upper Macungie Township, died Aug. 3, 2012.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of Matthew A. and Jacqueline L. (Hoodmaker) Zalik.

A 2009 graduate of Parkland High School, he was a member of the Parkettes Men's Gymnastics Team.

He was a student and served as a midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md.

He would have been part of the 2013 graduating class of the U.S. Naval Academy and was selected to be the USNA men's gymnastics team captain.

He was an Academic All-American Award recipient for 2006 through 2009.

Andrew D. Price, 43, of Fogelsville died July 31, 2012, in Weisenberg Township, from injuries he sustained in a bicycling accident.

He and his wife Carolyn (Bean) Price celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary last Aug. 3.

Born Nov. 1, 1968, in King of Prussia, he was the son of the late Clinton O. Sr. and Sondra (Reynolds) Price.

He earned a Bachelor's degree in business administration from Temple University in 1992 and was a digital imaging consultant for Idexx Laboratories, Mid-Atlantic Region, since 1999.

She and her husband Frederick A. Nidlund Jr. were married 43 years last August.

Born in North Catasauqua, she was a daughter of the late Gerald and Bernice (Smith) Moyer.

An interior designer and owner of Pam Nidlund Designs for 20 years, she also worked for the former Home Interiors for 35 years and later Celebrating Home as a senior branch manager.

Paul M. Merkle, 88, of New Tripoli, died Aug. 2, 2012, in Cedarbrook, South Whitehall Township.

He was the widower of Arlene A. (Zettlemoyer) Merkle.

Born in Lehigh County, he was the son of the late Milton and Lillian (Kocher) Merkle.

He and his wife worked on her father's dairy farm in Mertztown for many years, before owning their own farm in New Tripoli.

He was a milk truck driver for Carl Loch for many years and also was a truck driver for Peter's Brothers Meat Market, Lenhartsville, and for Swan Oil.
