County coroner awaits toxicology report on pair found dead in motel

A 36-year-old Texas woman and a 56-year-old Tennessee man were found dead Nov. 29 in a motel room at Howard Johnson Inn and Suites, 3220 Hamilton Blvd., South Whitehall Township.

Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said Christina Schwartz, last known address San Antonio, Texas, was pronounced dead by Deputy Coroner Richard Kroon at 12:15 p.m. that day in room 216 of the motel.

Kroon also pronounced Michael Donnelly, last known address in Tennessee, dead at 12:16 p.m. the same day and in the same room.

Nestle Water North America presents check to New Tripoli Fire Company

Members and officers of the New Tripoli Fire Company met Nov. 13 to approve moving ahead with a new addition to their building.

The highlight of the meeting was the commitment by Nestle Waters North America to donate $50,000 toward the construction.

The company will pay the total in five year installments of $10,000 per annum.

The new building will be added to the existing building greatly enlarging the apparatus floor as well as additional office space.

Upper Macungie firefighters respond to warehouse call

Upper Macungie firefighters responded Nov. 21 to the NFI Distribution Center, 910 Nestle Way, for a report of smoke in a warehouse.

According to Station 56 Fire Chief Leroy Gross, a fork lift tire caught fire but was quickly extinguished by employees.

The resulting smoke triggered the alarm system dispatching the fire departments.

Responding firefighting units included Fogelsville, Trexlertown and Upper Macungie Station 56, along with the Cetronia Ambulance Corps.

No injuries or other mishaps were noted by Gross.

Upper Macungie Twp police issue seat belt advisory

Upper Macungie Township Police have announced they will participate in day-and-night seat belt enforcement activities as part of the national Thanksgiving “Click it or Ticket” enforcement mobilization through Dec. 3.

Upper Macungie police will partner with 250 other law enforcement agencies across the state in an effort to increase seat belt use and reduce the number of unbelted injuries and deaths.

Departments will dedicate 50 percent of their enforcement time after dark to increase seat belt use when unbelted fatalities increase.

Two generators

Upper Macungie Township police say a 62-year-old Germansville man reported two 6,000 watt generators were stolen after a locked door was unlocked on a trailer sometime overnight Nov. 7 in the 5500 block of Muth Circle, Upper Macungie Township.

Police say one of the generators is black and red with wheels. The other is blue and does not have wheels.

Each is valued at approximately $1,200.

Apple devices stolen at office

Police say several Apple devices were reported stolen between 4:30-5 p.m. Oct. 13 from an office at Easy Post, 8250 Industrial Blvd., Upper Macungie Township.

Upper Macungie Township police say a 41-year-old woman from the 8300 block of Schantz Road, reported 11:28 a.m. Oct. 3 that her son’s bicycle, which was parked in front of her apartment, was stolen between midnight and 8:20 a.m. the same day.
