Refrigerant cylinders reported stolen

Upper Macungie Township police say five cylinders of R-22 refrigerant were reported stolen at 1:21 p.m. on Sept. 21.

The theft occurred sometime between Sept. 11 and 16 from a company vehicle at a business, 6801 Tilghman St., Upper Macungie.

Police discovered around 8:35 a.m. on Sept. 21 two men forced entry into several businesses at 5924 Tilghman St., Upper Macungie, sometime overnight.

A 21-year-old male resident of the 1200 Block of Trexlertown Road, Upper Macungie, reported to police at 1:15 p.m. Sept. 17 he was extorted via the Internet, police say.

Magisterial District Judge Daniel Trexler, during a preliminary hearing Sept. 20 in the Lehigh County Courthouse bound over former South Whitehall Township police officer Jonathan Robert Roselle’s case to the Court of Common Pleas.

Roselle is charged with the voluntary manslaughter of Joseph Santos of Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.

His formal arraignment is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Nov. 16 before Judge Kelly L. Banach.

Tamaqua woman helps man injured in Lynn Township crash

Chris Noecker made a choice Sept. 12 to be a good Samaritan.

She was traveling from Tamaqua to Allentown when she came across a crash just seconds after it happened on Route 309 in Lynn Township.

A car and a tractor-trailer had collided and the driver of the car was in bad shape.

“The driver was a young man who looked to be thrown around the car,” Noecker said. “He was in the back seat of the car.”

She immediately called 911, but decided to stop and wait until the ambulance arrived.

“They dispatched EMS quickly but it seemed to take forever,” Noecker said.

Upper Macungie police issue fraud alert warning

On Sept. 11, a resident reported he received a telephone call from an individual who stated he was associated with Upper Macungie Township.

The individual stated he was seeking a monetary donation for the township and he would mail the resident a form to complete and to make the donation.

Upper Macungie Township is not soliciting donations from residents.

If any township resident receives a phone call similar to this, contact Upper Macungie police at 484-661-5911 and make a police report.

Handgun reported stolen

Upper Macungie Township police say a 25-year-old male from the 1000 block of Mosser Road reported to them on Sept. 5 a Smith and Wesson Shield 9 mm handgun was stolen from his apartment.

According to police, the handgun was last seen 8-9 months ago.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Upper Macungie Township police.

Police say a father from the 1500 block of Silo Hill Lane, Upper Macungie Township, called 10:02 a.m. Sept. 3 to report online harassment of his 11-year-old son.

This investigation is ongoing, police say.

Car hits concrete barrier on I-78, Upper Macungie

State Police Troop M, Fogelsville, say Bryan A. Glover, 25, Goose Creek, S.C. was driving a 2015 Hyundai Accent when it struck a concrete barrier 2:04 p.m. Aug. 31 on I-78, Upper Macungie Township.

According to police, Glover was allegedly driving too fast for conditions when attempting to negotiate a right curve in the roadway.

Police say he lost control of his vehicle which struck the concrete barrier between the lanes of travel.

The car received disabling damages and was removed by Yocum’s Towing.

Items stolen from vehicles

Upper Macungie Township police say a 47-year-old male resident of the 100 block of Windermere Ave., reported to them 7:27 a.m. Aug. 29 personal items were stolen from his unlocked vehicle sometime during the overnight hours of Aug. 28 to 29.

In a separate incident, police say a 55-year-old male resident of the 200 block of Lenepe Trail, reported at 10:50 a.m. Aug. 29 items were stolen sometime overnight Aug. 28 to 29 from his unlocked vehicle.

Schnecksville man dies 10 days after crash in Upper Macungie

A 75-year-old Schnecksville man has died 10 days after being involved in an motor vehicle crash 2:09 p.m. Aug. 14 in front of 7801 Glenlivet Drive West, Fogelsville, Upper Macungie Township.

Lehigh County Corner Scott Grim said Robert Hauser was pronounced dead 6:20 p.m. Aug. 24 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Hauser’s death was due to complications of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident, he said.

Grim said the manner of his death was ruled an accident.

New Jersey man found dead at S. Whitehall motel

A 39-year-old New Jersey man was found deceased Aug. 17 at the Econo Lodge Conference Center, 1151 Bulldog Lane, South Whitehall Township.

Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said Michael Calcagni of Yardville, N.J. was pronounced dead 11:51 a.m. by Lehigh County Deputy Coroner Jack Fliter.

An autopsy was performed Aug. 20. Grim said the cause and manner of Calcagni’s death is a pending toxicology test results.

No information on Calcagni’s death was provided by police.
