Strong effort nets district crown

The Parkland boys basketball team wanted it more, and they showed it.

Diving for loose balls, playing more physical, and running Freedom out of the gym with fast-break layups and open jump shots, brought Parkland to a 65-50 win the District 11 4A final last Saturday night at Easton Area Middle School.

It is the first district gold for the Trojans since 2009, and the third straight victory over the Patriots since losing to them the first game of the season back on December 8....

Ice hockey caps perfect season

The Parkland Ice Hockey team completed a perfect season in the Lehigh Valley Scholastic Ice Hockey League on Friday, defeating Emmaus 6-1 to win the best of three Pure Division championship series 2-0.

Trojans (17-0-1) dominated the LVSHL from start to finish, with a combination of size, speed, and skill that could not be matched. Head coach Gerry Chandik could not be prouder of his team, and realizes what talent he has on his roster.

Another year, another District 11 swimming championship for the Parkland High School girls.

The Parkland girls have now won five straight district titles and eight of the last nine after capturing this year's championship this past weekend. The girls won the title by 114 points over second place Emmaus, while the boys fell 44 points short of catching Emmaus in their annual battle for the top spot.

Ethan Lizak looked like himself back on the mat at last week's Northeast Regional 3A finals at Liberty's Memorial Gymnasium.

After battling through Northampton's Todd Hetrick with a 6-3 decision in the semifinals, Lizak appeared to not have been happy with that result.

Ethan Lizak accomplished a great amount of success in wrestling, before he became an upperclassman. As a sophomore last year, Lizak won the individual district title at the 106 weight class, a year after coming runner-up as a freshman at 103.

Lizak would finish off his magical run last season with a state championship by defeating Michael Kemerer from Franklin Regional High School out of District 7 by a 4-2 decision.

Divers dominate districts

The Parkland Trojans were well represented on the medal stand at the District 11 Diving Championships this past weekend at Emmaus High School.
